THE STRANGER

Roles: Sound Design, Foley

I took a straight forward approach for this project, only punching through when necessary. Considering foley, I focused on making The Stranger’s footsteps heavy with grit, and capitalizing on subtle gun movement sounds to heighten suspense. The train crash was challenging, as the impact and events leading up to it were not shown on camera. The tone of the crash had to be set with sound. I accomplished this by layering recordings of various large rusted metal props from a film set I visited. I pitched and processed them to sound massive and destructive - adding subharmonics, distortion, and reverb when necessary.

All video materials are used for demonstration purposes only. I do not own the rights to this video.

Big thanks to Omeleto for releasing the film on their YouTube channel, and Sy Huq for inviting me to work on the project.
